Communion

Holy Communion is served every Sunday and provision is made for personal prayer, healing, anointing and the blessing of Children. Communion is
a holy meal of bread and wine that symbolizes the body and blood of Christ.
We practice "open Communion," welcoming all who love Christ, repent of their sin, and seek to live in peace with one another.

Acolytes
Acolytes are responsible to light the altar candles at the beginning of the worship service and to ensure that it is extinguished again at the end of the worship hour. All students in 6th, 7th and 8th grades are encouraged to serve as acolytes on Sundays from September to June, on a rotating basis. Some brief training is involved. Acolytes are coordinated by the Pastor.
Our Service
Members of the congregation take part in the service every Sunday morning.  They include: Praise Musicians, Liturgists, Ushers and Acolytes.

Liturgists
A Liturgist is a lay person who has volunteered to read the scriptures and
the opening prayer during the worship service. Each week we have a different liturgist. There is no formal training required but the person must have a good reading voice. Liturgists are coordinated by the Pastor. Anyone who would like to be a liturgist may contact the Pastor at 516-785-8877

Ushers
An Usher's basic duties are to greet all
visitors, hand out bulletins before the
worship service, and attend to any
emergencies that may occur. There is
no formal training required; and they
do not necessarily have to be there
every Sunday. Ushers are coordinated
by Doug Colquhoun. Anyone who would
like to be an usher should contact either
Doug or the church office at 516-785-8877.

Membership in the United Methodist Church is open to all who believe in Jesus Christ. This congregation encompasses persons who were formerly members of many denominations as well as
life-long Methodists.

We welcome all newcomers
warmly-and will do whatever we
can to weave all of our members
into the fabric of our life together.
New members are received
periodically. If you are interested
in learning more about our church,
please contact Pastor Knutsen.

Worship Committee

Members of the Worship committee
have the responsibility for setting
up the altar for communion and
baptism, changing the paraments
on the chancel when necessary,
cleaning-up after communion;
and arranging the weekly flowers.
Helpers are always welcome.
